Mussoorie is a beautiful, verdane hill station in northern India with a cool climate. this is an old city with many attractions for tourists. while leaving in this city for more than two years now, I have observed the city very closely. I fi have to see some of the critical issues relating to this city in the framework of stocks and flow, I can think of two issues: 1. tourists 2. water supply 3. Housing with respect to the tourists coming to the city, its a purely flow entity, with a very large number of tourists coming to the city in the summer season and now increasingly in winter season as well to witness snowfall. this increases the density of people abnormally during these periods. accompanied with this is increase in traffic, which is a big issue , consumption patterns, requirement of water, food, hotel room (another stock and flow also) requirements and of course waste generation. a proper modelling of tourist arrivals and associated demands can help us address it in a better and dynamic way. same goes for water, stocks are limited and flow due to rains can be analysed and forecasted to better plan the requirements.
