FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2016-08-30 by Marta
This shows a trail of bikes parked on a sidewalk in Cambridge. There are no cars and people are even seen walking through the road. This suggests that the city is not well adapted for vehicles and/or that public transport is not as efficient, and so the best alternative is to walk or ride a bike around. From this, we can extract very valuable information about the city and its livability. We gather that the distances are not too long within the city, which means everything is reachable. This adds quality of life for the people living here. Also, as seen in the picture, the fact that all the bikes are parked along the same line suggests that the council has provided the citizens with facilities to be more eco-friendly and promote the use of bikes by placing bike racks. This means that the council is well organized and indicates the wealth of the country.
