EXERCISE 3 Q. 1. What are the dominant fossil fuels used in your country? Answer: I am from India and the dominant Fossil fuel contributors Based on the International Energy Agency (IEA) reports of the Sankey Diagrams till the year 2016 Coal, Oil, Bio-fuels and waste production. The coal product contribution is total 381.4 Mtoe, among which 110.2 Mtoe is imported. The second contributor is oil (259.8 Mtoe) among which 218.6 Mtoe is imported from other countries. The Bio-fuels and waste production contributes about 191.7 Mtoe. When we try to figure out the contribution of these three sectors in overall energy pool of the country then it accounts for almost 88.5% indicating India’s less improvement in hydropower and Nuclear energy sectors. Q. 2. Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country? Answer: The energy consumption of India is driven by industry (192.4 Mtoe) and Others (243.5 Mtoe) followed by Transport sector (90Mtoe). The zoom view of Industrial consumption shows that almost 45% of total fuels are contributed by Coal and Oil products, followed by electricity (19%), Bio fuel and Waste (16%). Whereas, the transport sector uses 95% Coal and oil products of its total energy uses;
