Three of the most important flows of the city of Berlin are energy, people from the surrounding areas (who come into the city to work) and food supplies. Without any of these three the city could not function as it does, therefore I am considering them one of the most important although there are more, such as air, other raw materials, money or residents. Energy leaves the city in form of waste heat from factories, people leave the city in the evenings during rush hour and food leaves the city in form of waste. The inflow and outflow of people from surrounding areas, who work in the city, creates a very visible problem, which is reflected in the design of the city. The highway 100 surrounding the city is usually congested with cars during rush hour. While many residents, who live inside the city and therefore would be considered stock, can use public transportation. While the city grows, the movement of people will continue. In the future it could be that this is reduced by planners implementing a better transportation system, allowing people to use trains instead of cars.
