The picture was taken in Christchurch New Zealand. It shows a construction site in the city centre on which a steel skeleton building is being erected. The construction method does not correspond to the typical regional architectural style. Due to the settlement of European nations, buildings are often erected in the European architectural style. Steel has to be imported into New Zealand and is not a natural resource. Wood, on the other hand, is exported from New Zealand. Buildings could thus be constructed more sustainably using wood.
