Some of the rest is used in industries and others. Nicaragua is also called the “land of lakes and volcanoes”, there is a total of 19 volcanoes and many lakes, even though hydroelectric and geothermal production exist, just a small part is consumed. In order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources, first, I would create a policy with which we use other types of transport (currently only cars and buses are available) that don’t use any type of fossil fuels, at the same time bring work and homes closer so people is less dependent on cars and ride bicycles or walk instead. Biowaste energy production is as big as oil imports, but almost all of this production goes to other, if this energy is used in industries instead of oil we would reduce the CO2 emissions. Also, I would create a policy that promotes the hydroelectric and geothermal production, so that the energy used in houses and industries is renewable.
