Japan House is a japanese government project that seeks showing the world the contemporary Japan and it's culture, design and art. This project takes place in three cities around the world: Los Angeles, London and São Paulo. The building showed on picture is the Japan House project in São Paulo, designed by two architecture offices: Kengo Kuma, from Japan, and FGMF Arquitetos, from Brazil. This building connects two tradicionals elements from both cultures. Representing Japan, the facade receives a curtain made of wood blades (in this case, it's made of hinoki, a typical pine from Japan), and representing Brazil, a "cobogó" made of concrete, a brazilian tradicional technique. This building blends techniques, technologies and materials from both countries, like Toda Brasil and Nakashima construcion companies, Toto (sanitary ware), Mitsubishi Eletric (elevators), and more. This building takes place in Paulista Avenue, in São Paulo, Brazil, and this picture was taken by Romulo Fontenelle. A photography from internet was used because this building is currenctly under renovation.
