This is one of the most known buildings in my city, Barcelona. Casa Batllo was build by Antoni Gaudí and it's located in Passeig de Gracia, one of the most turistic avenues in the city. I would like to focus specially on the facade of the building, which combines stone, iron and small pieces of glass and ceramic. The material I really care about is sotne, as it'sthe main material used to build the facade of Casa Batllo. The rest of the materials used are a form of ornament and decoration. Why I care so much about stone? Because the stone used to construct the building is sandstone extracted from Montjuïc (the most important hill in Barcelona, near the see). This implicates the non-importation of stone in order to build it, as it is made from a local and natural resource. I would like to make another reference: Antoni Gaudí, reutilised the glass and ceramic that he couldn't put on hisuildings (for example Casa Batlló) in order to put them in other venues (as Park Güell or Sagrada Familia).
