My name is Ambaye Kidane. I live in Toronto, Canada. An excellent example of an urban habitat providing ecosystem services in the Greater Toronto Area is the Rouge National Urban Park that encompasses an incredible combination of natural, cultural and agricultural landscape. Provisioning services: While it is largely surrounded by the Greater Toronto Metropolitan area, it includes active farms that supply products to the city. Regulatory services: As an urban park encompassing 62.9 square KM, it provides significant climate regulation benefits, including flood protection, minimizing soil erosion, carbon sequestration, clean water and air. Habitat or supporting services: Rouge National Urban Park is rich in biodiversity, including about 1700 species of plants and animals. Cultural Services: The park provides huge camping, hiking, cycling, bird watching, fishing and other recreational opportunities through out the year.
