As many cities, in the 20th and the 21th centuries the development of London was dictated by the construction of the new underground station. Where a station was constructed, the urban development arrived and the area became very fast similar to the central parts of the cities. On the image, which is a screen shot of Google Maps of London we can see that the dense city areas correspond to the transport map. That is logical as London is a massive city and being able to commute is crucial.
