In China, most of the materials for building construction could be produced in our own country, like steel, cement, glass and aluminum. But we still need to import a few advanced materials. So here I am going to talk about this material, Ductal UHPC (ultra-high performance concrete), with the photo taken by my friend. This photo shows the material could make large panels with the thickness of 20mm. The perforated panels made by this material have excellent performance in outdoor environment, when the perforation ratio is higher than 50%. Thus it is used in the curtain walls of the Upperhills apartment in Shenzhen (one more example is the Xiaoguan Tea Headquarters under construction in Anhui Province). The raw material came from France, and then processed in the factory in Guodong Province, before the panels were assembled. I think this demonstrates the globalized construction process, as one of the representations of the global economy.
