FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2018-12-30 by Lars Orgus
I took this picture on 30th of December. It shows the main square of our new town center 1.) Visible information: In this picture you can see an apartment building with some shops in the ground floor, a second building in the background. On the right side there is a bus stop. 2.) Invisible information 2.1: As this picture is taken on a Sunday in wintertime the square is very less crowded. But even in summer time there is only less “through traffic” although this square lies in the geographical center of my home town. Invisible Information 2.2: On the rooftop of each building in this ensemble there had been installed solar power plants, which provide a significant part of the energy consumption of those buildings. 3.)Creating a more livable urban space: Planners should focus more on a pleasant environment: 3.1) Creation of “third places” where the people can meet in "formal" as well as in “informal ways” such as: Cafés, restaurants, a fountain with seatings, e.g. 3.2) The shops should be more visible to the public by a better labeling and colorful awnings. 3.3) The buildings could be painted in a more enjoyable way and with more variety
