1. What are the dominant fossil fuels used in your country? The dominant fossil fuels are Oil, with most being imported. 2. Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country? Transport. 3. It is your task to create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country. How would you do that? Think of how you can improve the sources and the consumption of energy. Reducing New Zealand’s dependency on imported oil for transport is a challenge given its remoteness from export markets and its being low density. The new policy I would create would be to facilitate the use of the railways for the transport of the goods and reduce the reliance on the roads. I would offer subsidies for electric vehicles to encourage them for private vehicle use. I would direct funding towards the formulation of bio fuels. This is an up and coming industry in New Zealand, which has the potential to improve New Zealand’s resiliency and a beneficial use of byproducts.
