In my opinion, this picture illustrates both what construction used to be and what it is now. We can directly notice the tall glass building on the left which contrasts with the other brick constructions. The picture is taken in London, but just by looking at this glass building it would never be possible to guess the location, as this type of construction is encountered everywhere on the globe. What's more, the materials used for construction of the building are not locally found or produced but are global and international hence the globalised economy concept. The others buildings use bricks which is a traditional building material in London. It is interesting to notice the building on the extreme right of the picture. Even though its outer shell is covered with traditional material, the structure is still made from concrete. So the design is meant to blend into the historical landscape but nonetheless the building is still representative of the global economy.
