Traffic jam is a serious problem in large cities, specifically in commute peak times. Two main reasons for such problem in Shenzhen could be a considerable amount of vehicles as well as unfeasible signal cycle times of traffic lights. Hence, this city app aims at buffering such problem with considering the latter reason. User group: Drivers (passengers could also involve) User interface: Welcome page -> “START” -> Connected to a map app, with showing traffic condition in the driving routine and updated every 10 min. Input: Driving speed & Waiting time Automatically detected by real-time location information analysis To save computing load, the processing system would be decentralized and each of them is in charge of a certain district. With the input sent to the processing system, the “waiting information” of vehicles (amount, waiting time & intervals etc.) are analysed together. Then the cycle of the traffic lights in this area will be adjusted based on traffic stream optimization and predicted control algorithm. Additionally, it would also give out suggestions to manage the reversible lanes involved in main roads. These real-time adjustments will help to shift the peak traffic load and save commute time for people.
