1. The dominant fossil fuels used in Canada are oil and natural gas, while most of the oil is exported, it is still the most used fossil fuel in the country after exports are taken into account. 2. The main use of our oil besides exports in Canada is predominantly for transport. 3. One of the main ways we can approach reducing our production and consumption in fossil fuels is to heavily invest in enable energy and research on renewables. In western Canada especially, many Canadians believe that oil is their only source of income and jobs and are therefore very reluctant to change or embrace renewable energy. I believe the government should no only foster this development but also ensure we can create an industry that will create jobs and income for Canadians to quickly shift their focus from oil to non-fossil fuel production.
