The impact of infrastructure on urban form and architecture is undoubtedly evident and even so in this picture. The picture shows the new Achimota bus terminal in Accra, Ghana which was constructed in order to solve a problem of vehicular congestion thus making changes to the urban form. The bus terminal now goes a long way to add to the architectural context of the city and solves the problem of traffic disorder by providing a place where commercial vehicles pick up passengers in a safe and pedestrian friendly zone and take them to their destinations. It also serves as a last stop to safely alight passengers. This piece of infrastructure adds to itself street lights and other ancillary facilities like buildings, pedestrian walkways, seating for waiting passengers among others. This solution is a first step to creating a future sustainable city.
