The picture is the perfect "cliche" example of the impact and the dependency of infrastructure. This is a picture of the Itaipu power plant, that to be built had to flood an area of 1500 km2 of forests and arable land, having a huge environmental impact at the region. Itaipu is the world leader in clean and renewable energy production, producing more than 2.5 billion megawatts-hours (MWh) since the beginning of its operation and supplying about 17% of energy consumed in Brazil and 75% in Paraguay.
