Garnite, marble and quartz counters are very popular in new homes in Canada. This picture shows a granite counter in my kitchen that came from Brazil. This is economically good for Brazil but it is not very sustainable or ecologically friendly for Canada. There are other materials available in Canada such as wood or cement that are available while being more sustainable and ecologically friendly options. We need to be better informed of the long-term impacts of the choices we're making.
