Check the temperature differences in US cities In this first part of the exercise, we would like you to follow the link to the Climate Central website and check the temperature differences that have been recorded in US cities and their surrounding rural areas due to UHI effect. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? Now that you saw the significant effect of UHI in the US cities, can you provide data and information for your own place of residence? Based on the Union City, NJ (UC) Master Plan adopted on March 2018, on 2009 recommendations from the Green Community are currently valid that include seeking information from the Shade Tree Advisory Committee on the placement, care, and maintenance of trees, and Seeking grants to plant and maintain trees. Also, participate in the Cool Cities Program and plant 250 trees per year; Engage volunteers in tree plantings; and Create Sustainability design guidelines. Additionally, in December 2017, UC adopted its Community Forestry Management Plan. These actions significantly improve the UHI in the summer where two long streets in UC are currently cooler than the previous years.
