The attached photo has been taken at the junction of three major road tunnel systems, two that traverse the Sydney city centre (one east west and the other north south), and the main tunnel crossing Sydney Harbour. This road infrastructure is critical in moving around the city. While the freeway system in Sydney does create significant disconnects between urban areas, as it does in any city, the use of tunnels allows this physical disruptive barrier in the urban environment to be minimised for large sections of the city.
