Rotterdam is a city which is developing rapidly and stocks and flows are changing. Flows of building materials and other goods intended for consumption (for the city itself, adjacent regions) enter via the port and find their way through the flowing river. At present, the centre is one big building city - 13 sky scrapers are built - which result in a flow of people into the city - largely from the mid-high income class. This will increases flows of energy, capital and goods. The stock of landmass, which was deemed sufficient until recently has started to transform as well - in order to accomodate demand for goods and spur economic activity large landmasses have been created artificially in the sea - thus mass becoming a flow effectively as well. As a result of economic development and increasing population, stocks and flows will change - some energy stocks (natural resources) will diminish, while others (renewables) will have an increasing impact.
