Average UHI for Kuala Lumpur: 4C. This effect becomes more pronounced during the weekdays. Kuala Lumpur is quite a verdant city, but it is also poorly planned and traffic heavy. Future geometric city planning which acknowledges the UHI would enable cooler temperatures. Many houses also use individual air conditioning units, while the use of centralized cooling systems would be far preferable from a livability standpoint. I’m unaware of any policies intended to counteract the effects of the UHI here. Certainly, in the last federal election it was not an issue that was raised.
