Uploaded on 2018-09-17 by Ulrike Feldmann
Visible information: How buildings look like, building material on the outer layer, number of floors of each building, size and density of the buildings Which types of city trees are used for greening the city How the roads look like, what different types of transportation systems there are at this junction, number of cars/busses/ etc. crossing the junction Invisible information: From the number of cars/busses etc. crossing the junction and the information from which direction they come and leave the junction, interchange volumes at the junction can be calculated. From the combination of the buildings and the number of people going to these buildings at various times of the day, we can get more information on the use of the buildings, like if they are workplaces or used as apartments. How information can become knowledge and contribute to the planning of a more livable urban space: The flows of traffic through the junction can be visualized, potentially also for different times of the day in a dynamic way. This can help to improve the traffic flows at the junction, for example by adjusting the traffic light settings or by adjusting the size of the lanes for the transport users.
