Attached is a photo of Regent Street towards Piccadilly Circus, London (UK), at night-time, showing the famous illuminated billboards on 46 Regent Street. Why did I choose it? Building technology has become not only a means of (operating) cost reduction but also a highly competitive factor in construction of (commercial) schemes, think of certification, for instance, and it´s not only for advertising but often also simple design considerations that illuminated facades are installed. These devices are usually fabricated in Asia, I guess, however, have become striking elements of many western landmark buildings, too – well know examples to be found also at Times Square, of course, and over here in Berlin. I suppose the footprint of their production and transportation is substantial, and from what I know once just few of the LEDs got broke, it may lead to complete exchange of the element. Time for holograms to come! ;-)
