As part of the globalized resourcing of construction materials and technologies the infrastructure being planned around the growth of the downtown Charlotte, NC skyline is being undertaken by both American and foreign firms, importing the knowledge of recent advances in urban planning and design to enhance the livability of the downtown parts of the city. While the component materials are still regionally and largely domestically sourced, the implementation of their use in the construction process in Charlotte is significantly influenced by the citizen-focussed designs of European and East Asian skylines - specifically taking into consideration the walkability and mixed use design plans that formerly were absent in the Charlotte region.
