Bologna is a big city in Italy, but it is also one of the most traditional according to the buildings. The only skyscrapers of the city are the ones which it is possible to see in this picture taken from the roof of my dorm. They are in the outskirt and they are linked with financial or commercial sector. The most typical material of the area is the red brick made with clay (Bologna is known also as the "red city"). Nevertheless, for skyscrapers other materials have been needed. 1) Steel which is produced in Taranto in Southern Italy or in China but the recent sanctions made this kind of import harder. 2) Iron to produce steel which arrives at the harbour of Taranto where the biggest steel factory in Europe is located (owned by Arcelor-Mittal). Usually it comes from Brazil, above all from Piquia de Baixo where it is extracted. 3) Coke which arrives at the harbour of Taranto from the East coast of the United States and it is fundamental to produce steel.
