I've been to Hong Kong and this is a photo taken there. The city has a limited area of land and people have to make do with what they have. Consequently, the city is packed with skyscrapers, high buildings and a system of MTR deep down under the soil. The transportation is quite good as the majority of people here travel from places to places by means of public transportation such as MTR or bus. However the energy spent by people in Hong Kong is far higher than other big cities in the area due to its packed condition. The energy used for cooling and for lighting are the biggest consumption. As in this picture, the energy used for lighting come to all the panels and buildings at night, especially in the city center while the cooling system works 24/24 to ensure the convenience of people living inside the buildings. We can easily spot the condensers outside the buildings creating a terrible environment for people living in the surroundings. These problems need to be pointed out and worked on to solve gradually in order to make the city more sustainable for the human habitat.
