My Idea for Citizen Design Science: Safe Walkways for Women: Critical to collect unsafe walkways in the urban space by enlisting support of women. A mobile based app that helps to record spots in the urban space where women have faced or likely to face harassment. The app would be popularized on social media forum to reach to many. Crowd sourcing of info would be done leading to further analysis of the same. The findings would be shared with Law Enforcement authorities, urban planners (for building safe pavements with street lights, etc) and also educate the local shop-keepers to keep an eye on the anti-social elements by reporting any suspicious elements. Basis the app data + reported violence, the spots in City would be zoned as safe and unsafe with clear time-zone of peak of such such incidents. A state of safe walkways report to be shared on-real time for stakeholder to enforce law, improve surveillance and protection.
