I have other options to commute such as buses, and cycling. However these are the two main routes I could chose. I take route 1, in red, which although longer is better for me, as I can get out, I have a chance to walk through the city, complete errands along the way, and I don't need to pay for a car and associated costs. However, route to is faster, and is easier during all types of weather. Still I prefer route 1 as it is cleaner, less costly, and improves my happiness and my cities urban livability.
