This photo shows one of the most known beaches of the city of João Pessoa called Cabo Branco Beach. As we can see to the right of the photo, the neighborhood is occupied by a large number of hotels that host several tourists from all over the worls, especially in high seasons. João Pessoa is the capital of the state of Paraíba and functions as a regional pole, providing goods and services for surrounding cities. In addition, there was an increase in the number of people living in the city of João Pessoa due to the implantation of a new automobile factory in a nearby city called Goiana. The people who work in this factory prefer to live in João Pessoa because it is a bigger city, with better infrastructure and is 45 minutes from the factory. This phenomenon creates a flow of density. Therefore, people are constantly flowing into the city for a number of reasons including tourism, work, study and shop wich, consequently, generates a stock and flow of capital and finances. Analysing the stocks and flows of people, capital and density provides basis for urban planing that would enable the city’s development in a sustainable way.
