This photo shows the famous waterfront of Cabo Branco Beach located in the city of João Pessoa, Brazil. • Visible information: 1. People walking; 2. Parked Cars; 3. Pubs (to the left). • Invisible Information: 1. Noise and pollution due to the heavy traffic volumes; 2. Stench from the pubs; 3. The beach The Cabo Branco Beach’s promenade is probably one of the most livable areas of the city of João Pessoa. But the views of the seaside are blocked by the pubs in many places. These pubs are dirty and messy which makes the environment unpleasant for people passing by. The waterfront activities are mostly commercial with few recreational opportunities. Another problem is the high noise levels due to the heavy traffic volume of Cabo Branco Avenue. The waterfront is one of João Pessoa’s great amenities and should be treated as such in the future planning and urban design.
