In December 2015, Malaysia made a commitment to reduce carbon emission intensity by 40% by 2020. This goal was revised to a 45% cut by 2030 at the climate change meeting in Paris. The policies I suggest to reach this target is:- >Expand the renewable energy sector, such as hyrdo, solar and wind, so that we are less dependent on fossil fuels. Since Malaysia is located on the equator, we are blessed with lots of rain and sunshine as such hydro and solar would be the best option. >Invest more in green technology in industries, construction and transport, since these are the largest consumers of fossil fuel sourced energy. >Conduct campaigns to increase awareness of public on efficient energy consumption. >Enforce strict limits on amount of carbon emitted by industries. >Increase gazetted forest areas to prevent excessive logging and wildlife exploitation.
