FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2018-08-26 by Keith Yeoh
These are the Sri Kota flat complex in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The flats are part of the PPR (People's Housing Program) initiative by the government, which aims to provide housing for squatters and fulfill the housing needs of low-income segments of society. It is located in the suburb of Bandar Tun Razak, which was formerly known as Kampung Congo (Congo Village) - in the early days, members of the Malaysian army who served in the Democratic Republic of Congo under the UN in the 1960s were resettled there. The visible information are the flat buildings, which appear to be densely populated with families and communities, and many of them are equipped with satellite TV. The invisible information that we wish to derive are the profiles of its occupants: their occupations, how do they get to / from work, income levels, household sizes - information that would be useful to tweak the PPR program.
