Prior to Citizen Design Science working the public sector in Kenya requires greater citizen engagement and trust. Politicians are notoriously corrupt along with Police as the country ranked #3 globally in terms of corruption. For this reason, citizens tend to focus on business and the private sector rather than slow community oriented engagement due to the unnecessary obstructions. If a CDS project were to take place it should revolve around mapping the community in terms of side walks or pathways separated from vehicular traffic by barriers. Road rules are not followed making walking, biking or running dangerous. With a map tool that provides routing in a safe manner it's more likely to help citizens make decisions, although once people get a smartphone they tend to stop walking in Nairobi due to poor existing infrastructure (walk ways + car exhaust) and crime.
