a. Provisioning services - Medicinal Resources: Due to Nairobi’s high altitude we are not susceptible to Malaria and other common tropical diseases found in Kenya. This provides a substantial advantage with regards to human productivity and health. b. Regulating services - Moderation of extreme events: The trees in and around Nairobi provided excellent water management, along with swamps and wetlands. The issue now is that they’ve been cut down and wetlands built over due to corrupt building practices and weak governmental control. c. Habitat or Supporting services - Habitats for species - Nairobi has attracted the Marabou stock, a very large bird due to the presence of open air garbage. The birds eat the garbage and somehow survive in fairly unhygienic conditions as seen in the picture. d. Cultural services - Tourism - Tourism is very important to Kenya as it provides decent paying jobs. The two key aspects are the warm weather and coastal environment along with the natural parks featuring large exotic animals.
