A_Provisioning services. The Biesbosch is a national park and a recreational area close to Rotterdam. However, the main ecological function is to provide the cities with fresh drinking water. B_regulating services. Close to my residence one can find the Heemraadssingel (see image). This is one of the many green corridors going through the city center of Rotterdam. They provide the city with fresh air (local climate) and have a function in biological control. C_habitat or supporting services. The same Singels offer a huge variety in animal species and vegetation. D_Cultural services. Again, the heemraadssingel has a cultural service as well. It activates people. When the weather is good, you can see a lot of people walking with the dog, enjoying a picknick or go for a run.
