The Photograph posted here is a typical residential two storied house in a planned zone in a District in India. Fortunately for this kind of buildings, India is not importing any building material from any country. However all the materials used in this building are not available locally but are carried to building site from different part of the state within a distance of 100 miles. In this building ordinary Clay bricks available locally within a distance of 10 miles, Machine Moulded clay bricks available at a distance of 50 miles, Lime and a waste generated in brick kilns is used as cementing material/ mortar in laying of brick walls, Square Mild steel pipes for railing are available within the Northern state of India . Recently due to availability of cheap building material in China, a lot of building material such as Floor tiles, Prefabricated wall panels, PVC Window , door frames and shutters, Artificial granite and marble textured boards are preferred to be imported from China. The bulk movement of building material is not advisable as transportation generates carbon footprints. The communities and local municipal bodies should incentivize the buildings built with local material in terms of House tax and permits.
