The three stocks and flows that enter Windhoek city are: - Food: The area doesn’t have any agricultural significance. Vegetables and fruits are imported from abroad. These supplies are brought into the city (flows) and stocked at supermarkets and smaller shops. These stocks leave the city in the form of waste. These stocks and flows could be change in the future if people start practicing urban farming that can reduce the food flow and the dependence on external food sources. - Water: Water is collected from rain and stored behind dams as a stock to be processed for drinking. This shows stock and flow as the water is taken from the rain, treated, used by people, and then leaves the city again in waste, drains and sewage. These could be improved if municipal policies are taken for sustainable use of water, and minimizing water loss within the urban network. - Consumable products: Most of the products are imported from abroad, bought and used in households as stock, and after a while can be turned into waste to be disposed of. This can be changed in the future when an extensive manufacturing base starts to establish in the city.
