1. According to the IEA chart for Kenya, the dominant fossil fuel used is Oil. 2. According to the IEA chart for Kenya, transportation is the largest use of fossil fuels at 2.69 MToe. 3. On a per capita basis Kenya uses very little fossil fuel, therefore it would be more practical to improve vehicle emissions and eliminate particulate matter in the transport sector (due to poor maintenance) than focus on reducing consumption. It would be more practical to focus on improving the roads which increase consumption due to poor conditions than to focus on the fossil fuel source. The National Electricity Grid is still not stable, once the grid is stabilised 24/7 then the country would be able to explore electric vehicles and other alternative transportation options. As the market is very price sensitive this would most likely require government subsidies. Also speed bumps on highways reduce gas mileage efficiency, more efficient policing and road safety would allow the government to remove speed bumps.
