Citizen design science as explained in the previous lectures can prove to be extremely useful especially in countries as multifarious as India. Unfortunately, this idea is not in direct use here. It is mostly observed and practiced by school and college going students who take part in such activities introduced by some private firms(mostly firms indulging in spreading awareness about social and eco-friendly activities and their interdependence, like TERI).Although they collect a lot of data, this data is not used or applied anywhere.This is a direct waste of potential resources which could help in future development. The most research done using citizen design science is in biology. The information is extracted from the locals who understand the region around them better than scientists even if their reasons are unreasonable.
