1) The Netherlands are a water rich country. We have lots of fresh water in lakes and rivers. We are also living in a delta at sea level. 2) Because of al this water we have a moderate climate with no to hot summers and not to cold winters. 3)Sometimes we have to much water because of rain fall and we are living below sea level so we invented in the 15th century windmilss to get rid of this surplus of water. In the image you can see an example of this old mills. 4) Now a days windmills (and wooden shoes) are attrakting millions of tourists a year to the Netherlands
