2. London can be up to 10'C warmer than surrounding rural areas. There are less green spaces, a lot of concrete and dense buildings. The population is higher and the use of airconditioning and heating is greater than the countryside. I only have 1 picture but it shows dense buildings going up with a rooftop garden in the foreground. This helps but is not enough on it's own. The rural area has gardens everywhere 3. Suggest buildings have living walls to increase the number of plants. Roof top gardens should become more common, and people should be encouraged to keep gardens rather than pave them over. 4. Yes, in London, there is a push to tackle the UHI with ideas such as the SkyGarden which was a proposal suggested by the Mayor is 2015. Local communities may help i.e Southwark encourage green spaces in central London. However, it is only discussed as part of the wider city climate growth and adaptation discourse.
