Heemraadssingel in Rotterdam. This is one of the many 'singels' in Rotterdam, a wide green corridor through the dense city center. It provides the inhabitants a recreational space, its good for the (micro) climate as it naturally ventilates the city and its also a place people recognize; its part of their sense of belonging. Besides, those green corridors are also known for the fact thats it attract birds and insects and is therefore ecologically important.
