Case study: Ecosystems on Guanajuato In a region of Mexico, whose name I don´t want to recall, there lays the municipality of Guanajuato. Enclosed by mountains, its urban architecture adapted to the narrow pathways of mountains making its street widening and narrow, more alleys than streets in a sense. Coming from a mining economy on the XVI century the city has dwelled many thoroughfares partially or fully underground. Guanajuato city then is connected above, on the surface and below in many ways. The interesting topography of Guanajuato gives support to many ecosystems. Underground tunneling act as a transport service as wheel as a regulatory service for climate. Many wind burst can be sensed on the hot days and nights. As a successful strategy for cultural festivals this places have been arranged to enclose cinematic or theatrical performances on some seasons. Another aspect is the mountainside pathways. Filled with an unmeasurable amount of stairs the coppice wood has make its way into the spots that housing cannot made use of. Regulatory services for the health can be taken two ways: in the amount of exercise that should be done on climbing and on the shading that protect makes walking more satisfactory. Natural phenomena arise on the clay mudslide; this promotes the use of pottery factories located on the bottom of the mountains. As an art movement, Guanajuato clay has not reached a commercial value, but from some it is a cultural heritage. Finally , besides the mountain side, comes the forest that surrounds Guanajuato. Much of that area is no regarded as part of the city and human settlements are dispersing in small family organizations. But, from the ecological perspective, the flow of some natural medicine materials has reached the common knowledge of Guanajuato’s habitants. Mainly the name of natural medicine is used booth as an ecosystem service an as a cultural one.
