This is the Ouro Preto city, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This city was built in at Colonial PerĂod. Ouro Preto means black gold, and Minas Gerais means, General Mines. This region is where the most part of gold were extract during the Portugal Empire and the majority of the gold were sent to Europe. The city was built in 1711, and its architecture is quite interesting, since it has a historical city centre. The city is on the list of World Heritage Centre by Unesco, but it has an outskirt who increses in an arbitrary way. Nowadays, it has an Federal University Campus at the city, so the population is increased by students and workers attract by jobs at the University. So, the demand of eletricity has incrised, while the infraestructure of the city is historical. At the picture, we can see energy cables passing trought the top of the historical hauses, infront of a beautiful church wich is covered of gold inside.
