In Indian context, i would list the most livable cities as follows: Pune, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, New Delhi. Five characteristics i find important for livable cities are: CO2 Emission, Transportation, Built-up Density, Technologies, Environment quality. I am currently living in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh State of India. The city has a mix of geographical features from the upper lake to the plateau region to reserved forest area of Van Vihar. The city has low rise buildings which give a clear view of the city from higher points in the plateau region. The city is sprawled and has vast green spaces. The co2 emission in the city is compensated by the rich environment. Bhopal has been ranked as the second cleanest city of the country under the Swachh Bharat Ranking 2018, by Govt. of India. It has good mobility and transportation facility. It is culturally versatile and has various arts and performing centers, museums, exhibition halls which attract artists across the globe. Bhopal has a rich history. The princely state attributes are still reflected in the older parts of the city. The above image has been taken from Bharat Bhawan,Bhopal city.
