The traditional houses of the region (parts of Karnataka(a state in India)), what they now call 'guttu mane' was mostly made of wood, a mud mixture and Mangalore tiles (for the roof). So, most of the components presently in use are not indigenous. This includes cement and foam sheets. -Cement was patented by Joseph Aspdin and was first observed to be in use England. -Foam sheets were discovered Carl Georg Munters and the method for its preparation was rediscovered by a group of researchers from Dow's Chemical Physics lab. As to where foam sheets first came to use in construction remains unknown. Just the use of these two basic components shows the rapid development of society(by mimicking western ideas) and the architecture that revolves around it.
