1. Results: Atlanta is up to 16 degrees hotter than nearby rural areas; its summers are 2 degree hotter than nearby rural areas; and has had 0 more days above 90 degrees than nearby rural areas. 2. Main Effects: Large street canyons that entrap heat. High amount of open surface area dedicated to vehicle transportation. 3. Measures: Keep expanding green space and encourage densification to reduce street canyon sizes. 4. Policy: I do not know of local policymaking addressing UHI.
