The globalised economy is shown in this construction project through the choice of brick work for the building facade (seen on the pallet in the photo)- the bricks used are from Vande Moortel, a company based in the Netherlands, with the steelwork for the building structure also sourced from Germany. This would use a much higher amount of energy in transport compared to using locally based companies (which are available for the brick and steel work), but does allow a much wider range of materials and styles to be chosen
